Overview

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) In English Literature is a three year undergraduate program, usually spanning six semesters that explores literature, language and criticism.

It covers poetry, drama, prose and literary history from various eras. The course develops critical thinking, analytical thinking, analytical skills and strong communication abilities.

Duration

BA English Literature eligibility requires candidates to have completed 10+2 from a recognized board in any stream (Arts, Science, or Commerce) with a minimum aggregate of 50% (often 40-45% for reserved categories). English is usually required as a core subject in the qualifying exam. 

Eligibility Criteria

    • Qualification: Candidates must pass the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board (CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards).
    • Subject Requirement: English must have been studied as a core subject in the 12th grade.
    • Stream: Students from all streams (Science, Commerce, Humanities) are generally eligible to apply.
    • Age Limit: There is generally no maximum age limit for pursuing a BA in English Literature.
